About the Data & Legal Notice
Project status
SportLensAPI is an independent software project currently in active development and testing. It is not a commercial service. No data, API access, or subscription is offered for sale, and there are no customers. This site exists to develop and evaluate the platform.
Affiliation
SportLensAPI is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or connected to any sports league, federation, association, club, broadcaster, or commercial data provider. All league names, competition names, team names, and related marks are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification and descriptive purposes.
Data sources and attribution
During development, data is aggregated from publicly available and free-tier sources, each used under its own terms. The main sources are listed below. Football data provided by the Football-Data.org API.
- Wikidata — released under CC0 (public domain). Used for canonical identity such as countries, cities, venues, teams and people.
- openfootball — public domain open football data. Used for historical fixtures and results.
- OpenLigaDB — open, community-maintained football data. Used for selected match data.
- Football-Data.org — used under its API terms, with the required attribution shown above and below.
- TheSportsDB — used on its free development tier for evaluation only.
- Other freely accessible providers, each used under their respective terms for development and evaluation.
Responsible sourcing
We aggregate only from publicly available and free-tier sources, and we respect the access rules those sources set, including robots.txt directives and each provider’s terms. We reconcile facts across several independent sources rather than copying any single provider’s database. Where data reaches us under a provider’s terms, we remove it if that relationship ends or those terms require it.
Privacy and personal data
SportLensAPI processes a limited amount of personal data. During development this includes the names and basic, already-public career details of players, coaches and other sports figures gathered from public and free-tier sources, and the email addresses of people who join the waitlist or create a test account. For public sports figures the basis for processing is our legitimate interest in building and evaluating a sports data platform, weighed against the limited and already-public nature of the information. For waitlist and account emails the basis is your consent together with our legitimate interest in contacting you about the project. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to contact@sportlensapi.com, and we will respond promptly. This notice describes a project in development and will be replaced by a fuller privacy policy before any commercial launch.
No warranty
All data is provided “as is” and “as available”, for development and evaluation purposes only. We make no representation or warranty of any kind regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, or availability of any data displayed. Data may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect and must not be relied upon for any purpose, including betting, financial, or commercial decisions.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SportLensAPI and its operators accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, this site or any data presented on it.
Intellectual property
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you are a rights holder and believe any content displayed here infringes your rights, please contact us at contact@sportlensapi.com and we will respond promptly.
